Title: Mosaic Women's Study: Rebuild - A Study in Nehemiah
Style: Discussion-based group study- no homework
When: Wednesdays, 6:30-8:00pm | September 7-November 16
Where: The Lodge West Wing
Facilitators: Renee Ceola and Shannon Torgerson
Childcare: Not provided
Registration Limit: 15
WHAT: The culmination of the history of Israel as told in the Old Testament rests in this short book of partial restoration. We will spend our time together in a guided discussion of Nehemiah supplemented by video teaching of approximately 15 minutes each week.
WHY: God's timeless message told in the Old Testament continues to equip and encourage us as New Testament believers and to provide examples and warnings for us as the people of God (1 Corinthians 10:11). Paul also tells us that Scripture is useful for teaching, preaching, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Finally, Jesus reminds us that all Scripture is ultimately telling us about Himself (Luke 24:25-27). With these truths in mind, we come to Nehemiah to be warned, to be equipped, and to be enlightened so that we may continue to faithfully serve the Lord Jesus who has included us in the story of His people.
Homework: None, although it is strongly recommended that you read Nehemiah prior to the beginning of the study, and/or as the group moves through the chapters.
Classroom time: Expect a short introduction to the week's material, followed by some warm-up questions, the video content, and a closer look at the chapters of Nehemiah covered that week as led by the workbook content and facilitators. Based on class size, members may break into smaller discussion groups for the chapter study portion of the discussion time.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Workbook: will be provided at the first meeting
- Bible: ESV, NASV, or NIV translation
- A journal or notebook with your completed homework
- Pens, highlighters, and post-it notes as desired.
